Information, not advice — what that means
There's a real legal line between legal information (explaining how the process works, what terms mean, what rights and options exist in general — which anyone may share) and legal advice (applying the law to your specific facts and recommending what you should do — which only a licensed attorney may give). We stay on the information side, always. That's also why nothing here ever tells you what to do: we lay out what exists, and the decisions stay yours.
No attorney-client relationship
Reading this site, using the tools, downloading documents, or sending us feedback does not create an attorney-client relationship with the Project or anyone connected to it. Nothing you type into our on-device tools is received by us at all.
Accuracy, currency, and your county
We work hard to keep Colorado-specific information accurate and current, and we review content on a regular cycle. But laws, rules, and county practices change — and vary from county to county. Anything time-sensitive deserves a check against current law or a licensed attorney before you rely on it. If you spot something outdated, please tell us on the feedback form.
The tools are blank instruments
Our tools organize what you know and what you choose to write. Template language is example language — a starting point you edit, not instructions to send. What you create with them is yours, and how you use it is your decision.
What we will never help with
The Project never helps anyone evade responsibility, violate a court order, or continue harm to a child. Due process for every parent and safety for every child are not opposites — we stand for both.

- Office of Respondent Parents' Counsel — Colorado's system of court-appointed lawyers for parents in dependency cases who qualify financially.
- Colorado Legal Services — free civil legal aid for Coloradans with limited income.
- Your county's court self-help center — procedural help at the courthouse.
